In my haiku, I focused on one of Syracuse's most fun and popular events: The New York State Fair. The fair draws people from many different places to our city, and there are things to do for people of any age. My haiku depicts the fair from the perspective of a young child who probably looks forward to the fair for the midway rides”I know I did when I was younger. But while a day at the fair is an exciting experience for a child, it can be terrifying at the same time, especially when you're surrounded by big, unfamiliar people in a loud, smoky atmosphere. I sought to create that contrast between excitement and terror.
