Graphic designer Allison Sklaney will present about teaming up with us to design a booklet about the Project’s early artists, noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at The Art Store, 935 Erie Boulevard East. Free event.

In 2026, to celebrate our 25th anniversary, we collaborated with Sklaney to design and publish, “Where Art They?” This 108-page booklet catches up with 22 professional artists, all graduates of the Syracuse University illustration program who created posters for the Poster Project when they were students at SU.

With 25 years of creative experience, Allison loves to dive into creative work, especially when nature, art and community are involved. Living in Syracuse for more than half of her life, she teaches undergraduate, graduate, and military students design principles at the S.I. Newhouse School for Public Communications.

At the presentation, she’ll discuss choice of format, layout, fonts, color palettes, and design of the booklet's DIY pages.

Haiku Workshop

Baltimore Woods and the Syracuse Poster Project are collaborating to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Nature Center. We're thrilled to announce a haiku workshop led by local author Tim Carter, 5 PM on August 18 at the Woods.

Tim will be presenting a light-hearted workshop exploring haiku: what is it, where does it come from, and how does it work? We'll look at some classic and contemporary examples, write some of our own as well, and hopefully take the spirit of haiku with us into our everyday lives.

Tim Carter is the Director of Writing Workshops at the Writers Voice of CNY. He is the author of THE PIGS (Dead Mall Press) and REMAINS (Tiger Bark Press).
