I’ve lived in Central New York my whole life, and my favorite part of living here is fall. My grandparents used to take me to Pulaski every fall to see the salmon spawning. The fishery was beautiful, and spending time with my grandparents was a big part of my life. This fledgling family, a man and his wife and their baby, is very evocative of family and new beginnings and everything that fall is about. I wanted them to be intimate and kind of cute.

I like how there’s a lot of depth in the picture. It’s fall, and it’s all orange, but there’s still sun. It reminds me of walking through the trees at Green Lakes or going on a hike on a sunny day. It’s an image you could find anywhere in New York, because of all the trees, which is nice.
