This haiku felt like something that I could relate to. I could definitely picture it, with off-campus housing and students having dogs. This was still early fall, and there were a lot of people in my neighborhood, around Comstock Avenue, outside with their dogs.
I waited until there were leaves on the ground. Then, for reference pictures, I brought my camera out and walked through Thornden Park. I had originally planned on depicting a boy or girl walking their dog in the park.
But then I came across this house on the corner of Euclid. It seemed typical of an off-campus house where students would live, and the tree out front was bright yellow—one of the brightest on the whole street. So I decided to depict the house, because it reminded me of student life off-campus.
