    Poet

    A Raven Haired Girl

I am an artist and when I would write a poem I would paint a beautiful picture that would have a lot of imagery. Writing the poem would be like looking at a painting. I've always studied different spiritual paths. My inspiration for this poem was a girl I knew in recovery. She liked to panhandle downtown. She and I were together once and to my amazement discovered she was fluent in tongues. It was amazing. The person in the poem is at home downtown and they feel free by themselves. But for people like me who have a schizoaffective disorder, those kinds of experiences can be very isolating. Prayer gets me through them.
