Description

From my little seat
in a glass box full of books
I watch clouds go by

One Saturday, while doing research on glass candlesticks in the downtown library, an aggressive page kept re-shelving my books, each time I went to find more books. Finally I decided to just sit in my carrel and confront the page, and tell her to leave my books alone. So I was daydreaming away, looking out the window and the haiku came to me: Here I sit in my little glass box

I discovered the library my freshman year. I was wandering around downtown, looking for the library, and kind of stumbled onto it. It was so cool—bright, warm and really inviting.

We don't get much sun in Syracuse, and it's really nice to have a building where you can be inside and still feel like you're outside. Plus, the library has a huge children's book section, which we don't have on campus. I was, like, I love this place!

So when I read the poem, I knew exactly what the poet was saying. It was as though he had written about me, sitting in the library, looking out the windows, gazing at the clouds and daydreaming.
