Pale Winter Lifts Her

poster information

Description

Pale winter lifts her
hooded veil and buds appear
in a burst of spring

I love poetry—love to read it, love to write it. I've been living in Central New York for many years and by March I am ready for some flowers and greenery.

I keep a journal in free form verse, depending upon what moves me. It could be something political. It could be something beautiful. It could be a photograph. When spring arrives in Syracuse, the natural habitat is inspirational.

I loved this haiku; I immediately pictured a serene setting where winter is personified, bringing forth a beautiful spring. From my experience, Syracuse winters can be quite harsh, but the spring has always been so lovely. Painting the flowers reminded me of the joy I feel when I see the first shoots burst through the surface. In my work, I don't typically use acrylics, so painting this poster was a unique challenge for me. Here's to hoping this next winter is as serene as she is in my poster!
